Lost on everest
Growing up I never thought about Mount Everest. It was always something that other people did, and it didn’t interest me at all. That being said, If someone ever asks you if you would like to get paid to film some people climbing Mt. Everest, I would suggest that you say “yes”. That’s exactly how I ended up 20 pounds lighter with an ear infection at 23,000 feet, laying lethargically in a tent, hoping that i’d recover in time for the push to the summit.
As luck would have it, I recovered enough to film the crew as they climbed the peak from the less popular north side in China. It turns out that filming in the death zone is no easy feat and I spent the majority of the time feeling like an absolute sack of shit.
Outside of the obvious highlight of summiting, one of the more special moments was after the second step before sunrise. The only people on route was our team, and I had the opportunity to sit down and watch a spectacular sunrise over the Himalaya.
